Qatar Is Guest Country Of Honour At Costa Rica Reading Festival

Qatar is participating as the guest country of honour at the fifth Costa Rica Reading Festival, held in San Jose from September 11 to 13, 2026.

The festival is taking place at the Antigua Aduana cultural centre and showcases Qatari literary and cultural works as part of efforts to strengthen cultural ties with Latin America.

A dedicated pavilion inspired by traditional Qatari architecture features publications by the Ministry of Culture, including works translated into Spanish, as well as books and intellectual and literary works by Qatari authors.

Visitors can also explore traditional Qatari crafts and Arabic calligraphy through interactive activities.

Jassem Ahmed Al Buainain, director of the Doha International Book Fair, said Qatar’s participation highlights the role of culture in promoting dialogue and understanding between peoples.

The Ministry of Culture said the participation forms part of Qatar’s efforts to expand international cultural exchange and strengthen cooperation with cultural institutions and publishers worldwide.
