“Mulhamoon” Exhibition Headlines Qatar National Library’s November Events

Qatar National Library is organizing a diverse program of cultural and educational events throughout November, led by the interactive Mulhamoon Exhibition 2026: “Ideas, Art, and AI” and the third edition of the “Our Children Matter” forum.

The Library’s program this month aims to empower future generations and introduce the region’s heritage through literary and artistic events. It has invited all members of the community to attend and participate.

The month’s events begin with the first session in the “Book Chat: Voices of Arab Women Writers” series, comprising three weekly interactive workshops presented by Dr. Amal Al-Malki, Associate Professor and Founding Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Hamad Bin Khalifa University.

The workshops explore the creativity of Arab women writers through guided discussions. The first session examines Palestinian literature through Wild Thorns by Sahar Khalifeh, the second explores Iraqi literature through The American Granddaughter by Inaam Kachachi, and the third discusses Qatari literature through In My Memory Is a Place: Roots by Shamma Al-Kuwari.

On Wednesday, the Library will host a symposium titled “Historic Libraries in the Islamic World: Beacons of Knowledge and Pathways of Transmission.” It will examine the origins of library collections during the medieval period, their role in shaping the cultural identities of their regions and the mechanisms through which knowledge was transmitted.

On November 12, the Library will hold a discussion as part of its “Cultural Mosaic” series featuring HE Sheikh Nawaf bin Mubarak Al Thani, Founder and Chairman of the International Mediation Council in Washington. He will offer an analytical reading of the region’s political and security landscapes and review Qatar’s continuing diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and regional stability.

On November 15, the Library’s Himaya Project will organize an international virtual symposium titled “From Auction to Restitution: Protecting Cultural Property and Combating Illicit Trafficking,” in partnership with the UNESCO Regional Office for the Gulf States and Yemen. Legal experts, researchers and cultural heritage specialists from around the world will discuss ways to trace, protect and recover looted cultural property, marking the International Day against Illicit Trafficking in Cultural Property, observed annually on November 14.

On November 16, the Library will open Mulhamoon Exhibition 2026: “Ideas, Art, and AI” in collaboration with Hamad Bin Khalifa University. The accessible interactive event showcases stories written by students, artworks they created by hand and other works they produced using artificial intelligence.

The exhibition allows visitors to explore the students’ use of artificial intelligence technologies to create new visual interpretations expressing their ideas. It also encourages reflection on the evolving relationship between human creativity and technology.

On November 19, the Library will hold the third edition of the “Our Children Matter” forum. Specialists in education, early childhood and library services will present practical strategies for empowering parents and supporting children’s development at different stages under the theme “The Inspiring Educator, Shaping Generations, and the Role of Libraries in Supporting Learning.”

That evening, as part of “Philharmonic at the Library,” audiences will hear Johannes Brahms’ String Sextet No. 2 during an enchanting evening of classical music.

The Library will conclude its principal events for the month on November 25 with the fourth edition of the “From the Memory of Private Collections in Qatar” seminar series. The series celebrates the pivotal role individuals play in preserving family libraries as pillars of Qatar’s cultural heritage.

The seminar will focus on the “Library of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud.” Guests will include HE Abdulrahman bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, former President of Qatar’s Sharia Courts; Dr. Yousef Al-Obaidan, former Professor of Political Science at Qatar University; and Mr. Omar Tahani, a researcher in Qatari history.
